Feb 19: On 4th February, a program on oral hygiene was organized for the students of Sacred Heart Convent International School primary wing. A dynamic and exuberant Dentist Dr. Jaspal Singh with his expertise sensitized the children about the oral hygiene and upkeep of their teeth.
Learners were curious to extract more knowledge from an apt source readily available to them. He acquainted children with various reasons for tooth decay and its preventive measures.
He also enlightened students about the symptoms and signs of oral cancer. He emphasized that children should be sensitive towards such signs of oral problems happening with anyone in their contact. He implored children about the right practice and approach to keep their mouths clean and disease free, regular brushing, cleaning between the teeth, use of dental floss, right toothpaste and its accurate amount etc.
A dental quiz post the program was a fun experience for the students. Receiving souvenirs for their apt responses brought cheerful smiles on their faces. Reiterating the words of Benjamin Franklin, Dr. Bhatia concluded with all intensity
“An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure’’.
