Holy Cross Girls’ Hostel, Dharmanagar was started in response to the charism of our Founder to spread the compassionate love of God among the rural poor and marginalised. During the pastoral visits of the sisters to the villages, they had seen many children especially the girls who had no opportunity to study in good schools. The need was felt to open a hostel facility to these children in order to help them to pursue their education through our institution and make them better human beings.

Responding to this need, a hostel was opened on the 21st January 2009 with 7 girls under the leadership of Sr Cleopha, the local Superior and Sr Rosia, the Principal. They were housed in the school hall until the next arrangement was made. Sr Caron was the hostel Warden. On 12 March 2013 when the new convent building was inaugurated the hostel was shifted to the first floor of the Convent Building.

As the number of students increased and girls coming from poor families Sr Rosia the Superior and the Principal applied to the Government to avail the children with hostel stipend to help these children. She left no stone unturned to get it passed by the Government and her hard work was rewarded on the 9 August 2016 whereby the Government passed a bill for 50 girls which was a great help. The number of the borders is increasing. At present there are 58 girls. There is further demand for admission but due to lack of space we cannot accommodate them.

Six batches of girls has successfully completed their ICSE exams with good results and are now pursuing their higher education in good Colleges.
