Dec 01: Madeleine Institutions - Units of the Bethany Educational Society ® Mangalore, together with Labour Department D.K, Mulki Town Panchayat, like-Minded Organizations and People of Goodwill conducted an awareness programme to the Construction Workers on Sunday 29th November 2020 at 11.00am at the community Hall (Samudaya Bhavan) of K S Rao Nagar Lingappiyyakadu Karnad Mulki.
Rev Sr Anna Maria BS, Provincial Councillor & Coordinator for Social Action, Mangalore Province presided over the function. The prgramme was symbolically lunched by building the bricks as an image of building the life of the construction workers. She asserted the construction workers to claim their rights and avail the benefits under Karnataka builders and other workers Welfare Board.
Mrs .Wilma Elizabath Tauro, Labour Officer, Labour Department D.K in her awareness speech, brought into light the hidden treasures of the legislation of the Government of India on ‘Building and other construction workers (regulations of employment and conditions of services) Act 1996. She also explained in length the welfare schemes of Karnataka building and other construction workers welfare board 2006. It was a concerted action of all the NGOs, Information & Service Centre, Lions, Rotary, Mulki church and likeminded individuals.
