April 08: March 2022 was a red lettered day in the history of St Michael's Girls Higher Secondary School, West hill, Kozhikode. All the students, their parents, teachers, staff and other respected invitees attended the function with immense joy in their heart. The highlights of the day were The 95th Annual Day Celebration, Farewell to the retiring staff and handing over key of the Housing project “Sahapaadikoru Veedu" - to a deserving student of our school.
The programme was inaugurated by lighting the lamp at the hands of the chief guest Smt Beena Philip, Hon'ble Mayor, Kozhikode Corporation. The ocassion was graced by the presence of Rt Rev Dr Varghese Chakalakkal, Bishop of Calicut Diocese. The Corporate Manager Rev. Sr Santhosh Maria BS honoured the retiring staffs- Rev Sr Tessy John Thayyil, Headmistress, Sheela P- High School Teacher, Siby Jacob- Primary school teacher, Raju Joseph Office staff with Momemtoes and gifts. We were also privileged to honour Rev. Sr Santhosh Maria for her selfless services as Corporate Manager and on her maiden visit as the General Councillor. The evening commenced with a prayer followed by the presentation of the Annual report by Sr Mercy KK the Principal.
The dream of our Fr. Founder and the Core Value of BES - " compassionate love for the poor and marginalized' was enkindled in the hearts of all through the dream project ' Sahapaadikoru Veedu' ,the fifth house gifted to Kum. Anamika P a deserving student of Std X. Amidst the financial crisis, we are happy that we could accomplish this great task of providing a shelter to the needy with the generosity of many well-wishers. We proudly announce that the land for this project was gifted by our staff Smt Sherry Francis and her husband Mr Vinod and they were recognised and honoured for their generous and selfless contribution.
Keeping in mind the empowerment of women and girl children, the Government project ' KARUTHU’ a Kalaripayattu- self defense training programme for 30 girls was also officially inaugurated by Smt Beena Philip, Mayor, Kozhikode Corporation.
The breath taking dramatic journey of the students culminated with spectacular programmes. The be dazzling and magnificent spectacle left the audience spellbound and craving for more. The show not only enchanted all but it also bought to the fore the talent of students which had been uncloked for two years due to covid pandemic.
