Jan 23: The teachers of Bangalore Province gathered for a memorable Educational Convention on July 3, 2024, at Gulabi School in Bangalore, and July 5, 2024, at St Joseph ICSE School in Mankalale, Sagar. The event brought together educators from various districts, offering them a day of reflection, learning, and growth. Sr Sahana, Provincial Superior and Corporate Manager, inaugurated the convention with a keynote address, emphasizing the day's theme: to learn, unlearn, and re-learn. She praised the teachers for their invaluable contributions to education and underscored the importance of continuous personal and professional development.

Sr Mariette, General Councillor, delivered a thought-provoking session on the Founder’s vision of education, Bethany Pedagogy, and BES core values. She illuminated the global reach of Bethany’s mission, sharing stories of the founder’s compassionate dedication to the poor, particularly through the establishment of boarding houses, orphanages, and vocational schools. She highlighted his early recognition of the importance of multiple intelligences and child-centered education. Sr Mariette urged teachers to embody compassion and help students envision a better future, emphasizing the need for peace rallies, debates, and engagement with global issues. She concluded by challenging teachers to reflect on how they could embody the founder’s radical, fearless, and committed approach.

The convention also featured impactful sessions on promoting peace, harmony, and equality. Fr Vinay Kumar’s session focused on self-introspection, asking teachers to reflect on their roles as peacebuilders within their families and schools. He connected these themes to the Indian Constitution, stressing the importance of equality, liberty, and fraternity. Fr Stany D’Souza expanded on this by discussing the causes of disharmony, advocating for patience and understanding. The event concluded with Sr Sahana’s session on environmental conservation, where she raised awareness about the ecological challenges we face and encouraged teachers to impart lessons on sustainability. With 475 teachers in attendance, the convention proved to be an enriching experience that re-energized educators in their mission to shape the future of their students.
