Aug 15: “At the stroke of today’s midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom”, said Jawaharlal Nehru. On Midnight 14th August 1947 celebrated the 71st year of Independence.
The 71st Independence Day was celebrated by Bethany English Medium Primary School at the school grounds at 9:30am. The programme began with a prayer song which was led by the school choir. Sr Eulalia introduced the Chief Guest.
Mrs Teena, the staff of Bethany Primary School, compered the programme. The Chief Guest of today’s function Mr Vasanth Bernad was escorted by the Headmistress Sr Anitha Tressy, Sr Veena D’Souza, Mr Venkatesh Hebbar Vice-President, of PTA. Students from Primary and High school both participated in the flag hoisting ceremony .
The Chief Guest unfurled the National Flag along with the dignitaries. The National Anthem was sung by one and all. The Chief Guest Mr Vasanth Bernad in his Keynote address, spoke about the patriotism that every citizen should uphold towards our country and highlighted the heroic deeds of soldiers and Freedom Fighter.
Ms Shashikala, proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was performed by class X. They depicted the life of the soldiers through Audio Visual. They paid tribute to our nation by their colorful dances and jokes.
