It was a gathering of the Staff of St Mary’s Eng Medium School, St Mary’s Kannada Medium, St Mary’s High School and St Mary’s PU College on the occasion of seminar on POCSO by Rev. Fr Eugene Lobo SJ, Secretary of Karnataka Regional Commission for Education (KRCE).
On 30 January 2018, at 9.30 am all gathered at St Mary’s High School hall. The seminar began with the prayer lead by Fr Eugene with the assistance of Mrs Mable, the office assistant of KRCE. Sr Cynthia Introduced the resource person and welcomed all.
Fr Eugene Lobo SJ began with the meaning of Education, the need and importance of Catholic Education for the world today, Ten Commandments for teachers and teachings of Pope Francis on education. He said that we need to safeguard the dignity of every human person under our care and respect God’s image in every one.
He spoke elaborately on the theme explaining the meaning of the word POCSO act, the statistics of Sexual abuse in India and Karnataka, , the need to be aware of the situation around us, caution to be taken as teachers, avoidance of corporal punishment and legal action that could be taken by the civil authority.
Fr Eugene Lobo distributed the Certificate of Appreciation by CBCI to St Mary’s High School and Primary School. It was an honour to receive the certificate and a boost to do better.
