Fr Felix Tauro, the Parish Priest of St Anthony’s Church, Dornahalli wanted the Bethany Sisters to have a house in K.R Nagar. Most Rev Mathias Fernandes, the Bishop of Mysore was pleased with the services of Bethany Sisters in Dornahalli and desired an English Medium school in the taluk headquarters at K.R. Nagar. Sr Laeta, who was the Superior at Dornahalli communicated this desire of the Bishop to Mother Macrina, the Superior General. On 16th January 1965 Mother Macrina, Sr Verena and Sr Agnella arrived from Mangalore and thereafter met the President of the Municipality and registered a plot of 4.5 Acres of land in view of starting a Convent and a School.

On 21st May 1967 Most. Rev. Mathias Fernandes blessed and inaugurated the residence of the Sisters and Nursery classes were shifted to that building. On 1st June 1968 Sr Laeta took charge of St Joseph’s School and Sisters Paziens, Celesta and Grace assisted her. They walked along the streets and by lanes to inform the people about the new school. The public were impressed by their joy and 12 children were admitted to Kindergarten. Their number steadily increased to 120 by the end of the Year.

The Primary school was opened with the 105 students on 22nd May 1968 in the rented building. At the request of Sr Laeta Rev. Fr Felix Pinto blessed the site for the construction of the school building at on 8th December 1968 and when it was ready, Most Rev. Mathias Fernandes blessed the school building. The officials from the Education Department and the Munsiff Magistrate Eshwar Bhat and were present on the occasion. The classes were shifted to the new school building and a cultural programme to mark this happy event. The school had a bullock cart for the transportation of the students from their homes to the schools.

In 1974 Sr Laeta was transferred and Sr Prudentia took charge of the school. From 1980-1986 Sr Theresia was the Headmistress. Construction of the first floor of the school building and the children’s corner were completed in 1984 with funds from “Propaganda Fide”, the bishop and Bethany Generalate. The Statue of St Joseph’s was erected on the school building after a procession on 19th March 1985. From 1990 to 1999 the following heads namely Sisters Pushpa, Ita, Tricilla, Sushanthi managed the school in all spheres. Each year the number of students increased as dedicated and committed Sisters and the other teacher’s took up their noble profession in building up the lives of children, drawing out their rare potentials. The students would appear for the District level Public Examination and bring credit to the school by their 100% results. Special attention was given to Catholics, girl children and slow learners. The school was catering to the needs of all types of children without any reservation.

Sr. Amy was the Headmistress from 1999 to 2004. The extension of the school building with the 6 additional class rooms was completed and it was blessed by Fr. Anthony Swamy Pallotine (SAC) on June 9th 2002. Sr Sharlet Rodrigues was the Headmistress from 2004 to 2008. During this time additional class rooms and a Hall was constructed to facilitate the expansion of the school. Sr Trina was the Headmistress from 2008 to 2013. The spoken English classes were arranged for the teachers, Remedial classes and extra coaching had been given to the students who were weak in studies.
