A long cherished dream of the people of Sagar to have education to their wards, St. Joseph Eng Med High School, was established in the year 2014 for Std IX-X, with a view to help the boys of the town, the students of St. Joseph’s Higher Primary School Sagar, who otherwise had no chance to continue in an institution run by Bethany Sisters, as Nirmala School caters only to the girl children. St. Joseph Eng Med High School, Mankalale Sagar, Shimoga Dist, is currently affiliated to State Board and it is one of the reputed institutions in the town, known for its education for excellence. With the blessings of St. Joseph, the Patron Saint, the hard labour of Sr.Ivilla, the first Headmistress, of the school and Sr. Clemency the Correspondent along with the staff, the first batch of SSLC student’s secured 100% result in the Board exam.
“Education for fullness of life” is being the goal of our Institution, we try to impart transformative education for life. The strength of the school in the year 2014-15 was just 56 and in the past six years around 490 students have completed their SSLC with remarkable achievement. In the year 2016-17 Sanjana B and Ananya C secured 4th rank and in the year 2019-20 Mohammed Afnan secured 3rd rank at the State level in the State Board exam. This academic year has 239 students on roll.
Sr Priyalatha was appointed as the second Headmistress in year 2016-17 and continues her service till date.
Students excel in curricular and co-curricular activities and bring laurels to the school, by their excellent performance and achievements at the Taluk, District, and State level competitions. They are good at sports, art and craft, debates etc and are exceptionally good in science seminars and model making. Students are also given opportunities to participants in outreach programmes every year. This has inculcated in them, compassionate love for the less fortunate. They carry out cleanliness drive, as a regular pattern of their students life. The school also has active and responsible school Cabinet leaders, along with enthusiastic Scouts and Guides troup. The staffs is also very responsible to help their wards to develop intellectually, physically, emotionally and in building good personality.
