In 1981 when Bethany Congregation celebrated the Diamond Jubilee of its foundation, it took up a project of starting the Oriya Medium Primary School at Berhampur, Orissa as a Diamond Jubilee memorial, for the poor children in the afternoon on the same  campus in the same building. Bishop Thomas Thiruthalil of Berhampur Diocese who was concerned about the poor children inaugurated the Oriya Medium School on 13 July 1981. The mid-day programme was continued by the Bethany sisters to the entire Oriya Medium School. In the initial stages of this school, Sr Rose Rita and Sr Balbeena rendered their selfless services in the Oriya Medium School. After class V examination some of the students were admitted to Government school to continue their studies.

Later Sr Jyoti the then Superior General and her Councillors decided to have a separate building for the Oriya Medium School, in the same campus. It was inaugurated by Sr Wilberta, the then General Councillor and blessed by Bishop Joseph Das on 25 March 2003.
