2. The Bethany Society ® Panvel, Maharashtra

It was a joyful day in the history of Bethany Convent School, Panvel as we inaugurated the nursery school on 17 June 2002. The tiny tots entered the Bethany Convent School with joy on their faces. Sr Clerilla was the pioneer and the first person to take charge of the school.

From June 2003 the children were transported from home to school and vice versa with the help of a second hand four-wheeler donated by the Provincial Superior to the community. The Tata Motors also sponsored a bus with 32 seaters. God’s blessing!

In June 2005-06 the Pre Primary School was shifted to New Panvel in order to give publicity to the school and to draw more admissions. The school made progress in all spheres. Sixteen Katkari tribal children joined the school in 2007 and their number is increasing year by year. The sisters involved in social work take care of these children by providing them additional coaching classes, regular medical examinations, books, uniforms, stationery, school fees etc.

In the year 2008 the foundation stone for the new school building was laid and in 2010 it was inaugurated. In the year of 2015 Bethany Champions was also inserted in the school curriculum.The school got the recognition on 27 February 2013 for High School.

Over the years the school has been led by the following Headmistress: Sr Clerilla 2002-2003, Sr Sharlet Mendonca 2003-2004, Sr Helen D’Souza 2004-2012 and Sr Archana 2012 to 2015. The PTA is very co-operative and has supplied drinking water to our students. Currently the school accommodates 1060 students with 75 Catholics and 54 Katkari students. The school has 34 teaching and 17 non-teaching staff.

The school has sent out three batches of class X students since 2013-14 and has been blessed with 100 percent result in the academic year 2015-16. The school continues to live its motto - Education for fullness of life – and imparts value based education.
