Mar 18: “Teachers can light up many lamps with their compassionate heart” was the provoking thought of Sr Tina, the Headmistress while sharing her view on social outreach programme, with her staff. It was then that the teaching and non - teaching staff planned for a “day of charity” to extend help to Mercy Home of Women and “Sneha Jyothi” of Men at Heggala, a remote village in Virajpet, Kodagu District, 34 kilometers away from St Antony’s  School, Ponnampet, S. Coorg.

They offered daily provisions like rice, soap, towels, eggs, meat etc. Teachers were blessed by the inmates. They had the opportunity to listen to their hardships, sorrows, ignorance and painful stories. It was a heart touching scene to see them helping others though each one was disabled in various ways. Bethany Core Value- Compassionate Love – was made concrete with this gesture. All joined together to pray for their well- being, happiness and peace in life. The kind gesture, the gentle touch and good words brought joy and happiness on their faces.

The staff thanked the Headmistress for providing them and opportunity of being human towards the disabled and the aged.

Sr Teena BS, Headmistress
